Fridays 3 Questions

  1. My Mother has probably been the most influential person in my life. Everything she does she does it the the best of her abilities and makes the right decision almost everytime a conflict happens she is the best role model I could have and I would be lucky to achieve half the stuff she has and be half the person she is
  2. I think Mr. Keatings poem means that we live for the love and romantic parts in life but there are also other parts in our lives such as working and engineering and I agree with that we hang around people who we love and who have love for us and you can't get anywhere without working. I believe we read poetry because poetry can express anything any emotion or any feeling but I think we read it because we want to know that other people are going through what we are going through.
  3. I agree that you should always look at things in another perspective or their point of view because maybe its better than yours and maybe you are both right. I remember one time when I was a little kid me and my friend argued on who was right when I said one plus three is four when he said so is two plus two and I thought he was wrong then I ended up noticing he was right.
  4. My 'verse' I want to leave on the world is to be the best guy possible to be remembered for great things and make sure everyone knows that I am a great role model and I want to show everyone that its okay to make mistakes but I think my lasting impression is to seize the day and live your life the way you want because you have to make sure you are happy and you do everything for you and make sure its the right thing too though.

3 Questions

  1. I think that Neil still would have committed suicide eventually because his dad would have pushed him to the limit eventually and the only way he wouldn't have killed himself is if he moved out or if he did his own thing and his father let him.
  2. I think the bravest was Charlie Nwanda because he was himself and did whatever he wanted, Cameron was the coward and was the reason charlie punched him in the face because he was a coward.
  3. I think the boys would've thought Mr. Keating was trying to help him and that Mr. Keating gave it to him when Neil went to visit him and I think Neil asked him for help and Mr. Keating gave him that and the dad just saw it and blamed him.

The Theme You choose to describe

I believe the main theme was "Carpe Diem" which means seize the day and I also think that this was what really started everything for the guys to start living how they wanted to live and not how everyone else wanted them to live. This is also what made all of them look up to Mr. Keating and it is what mainly started the Dead Poets Society and I think that Mr. Keating taught the boys to really live how they wanted and to not just make everyone happy because it is impossible so just make sure you are happy doing what you want. Seize the day means to live your life how you want but make the right choices and to pretty much don't do something unless you want to not if everyone else wants you to you got to live it your way. I try living this way because I feel like if I try to impress everyone I will never be happy because it will never be where everyone likes you sometimes people are going to hate you and not like you and you just can't let them into your life and only live with positive people around and always have positive vibes.

Follow Up Character Question

1. I think Charlie or Nwanda was transformed the most just because he like didn't care and thought everything was stupid then he went and became the craziest and most supporting in the dead poets society and he also cared the most about everyone.
2. I think Cameron stayed the same and just wanted to get through school and not get in trouble and do whatever people wanted him to do.
3. I think Mr. Keating is a leader and a role model type of character and I don't think he was changed I just think he realized how much people looked up to him and he will use that in the future so he knows.
4. Neil Perry overcame his fear but it ended up not working out and his father pushes him over the limit. Knox Overstreet was scared to get beat up by his crushes boyfriend but it ended up that his crush liked him a little too and he was very brave because he was always trying to get her and see her. Charlie Dalton was a very brave person no matter what I can't really point out his main fear but I think his biggest fear was getting caught doing the wrong thing and getting in trouble. Todd Anderson was a brave kid but he was also very shy and he was mainly scared of his parents and having to follow in his brothers footsteps not knowing if he will be able to fulfill them and he wanted his parents to love him but he also wanted to express himself freely.

Discussion #3 and #5

1.) Betty is seen to have a tremendous reaction towards Joan's application to study in Yale. Why? If you were Betty, would you have similar reaction?

I would have been very surprised because back then it was not known for women to go into law and go away from home and stuff. I think Betty was scared and just didn't want her to leave because they were both about to get married and once you get married you m
ust be a good wife and have dinner ready everyday by 5 o'clock.
2.) Betty's marriage to Spencer – do you think she was happy? Note her mother's refusal to let her stay with her. Why?
I do not think she was happy I think she was forced to marry him and he didn't even want her he wanted to do whatever he wanted to that's why he cheated on her. She was forced to because she was supposed to look like a well off good looking married women with a man who can support her.
